Applications and Uses
Kolar Labs premium catalytic carbon is made by Calgon Carbon specifically for chlorine, chloramine and hydrogen sulfide removal. It is a special catalytic activated carbon that quickly and effectively eliminates challenging contaminants in tap water that cannot be removed by standard activated carbons. Chloramine is growing in popularity as a disinfectant in many municipal water systems, and is not removed by traditional activated carbons or activated charcoals. Chloramine is extremely toxic to fish and aquatic life and it degrades reverse osmosis membranes resulting in decreased RO system performance and membrane lifetime.
Our manufacturing process modifies the carbon’s surface electronic structure to create catalytic performance without harmful metals or alkalis used in other catalytic carbons. The production process is phosphate-free, to eliminate the potential for phosphate release from the carbon. For use as a prefilter stage in an RO system, fill a filter cartridge tightly with carbon. Perform short rinse before use. Place catalytic carbon cartridge before the RO membrane stage to remove chloramine and keep your RO system running optimally.
